We are able to offer a variety of translation services at the council. We can also provide documents in large text, Braille and audio.
Website translation
The council’s website can be automatically translated into over 100 languages using the free page by page website translation service provided by your chosen web browser.
To activate this, please visit your browser’s translation service and select your preferred language.
Meetings and phone calls
In most circumstances, the council can arrange interpreting for meetings, consultations and phone calls.
Our officers can speak many different languages and will often be able to translate for you. If you need translation into a language an officer cannot speak, we can arrange a translation service for a meeting. This is a free service we provide, you do not need to bring an interpreter to attend meetings with you.
Written materials
Translation of leaflets and documents provided by the council can be arranged for you. Please give us further details of the document you would like to have provided and the format required, and we will liaise with the relevant department to ensure this is delivered.
Although we try and obtain translated documents as soon as possible, please note that this process may take several days.
