This Sunday (30 June), visitors to Ely’s Market Place will find it full of flowers, art and bicycles.

Alongside the monthly Flower, Food and Craft Market - with its great selection of seasonal flowers and plants, artisan foods and unique crafts - a group of artists in East Cambridgeshire will be promoting the forthcoming Cambridge Open Studios scheme.

The initiative runs through July and includes many local artists displaying a range of their work from sculpture to hand crafted jewellery and original art and giving demonstrations of their craft throughout the day. More information is available at www.camopenstudios.co.uk.

There will also be the final leg of Cambridgeshire Festival of Cycling which is a free event for all the family whether they are cyclists or not. The Festival features bike try outs, a chance to get your bike checked out by a professional mechanic as well as the chance to peddle your way to a free smoothie. Cllr Richard Hobbs, Chairman of Community and Environment Committee, said: "Ely Markets, organised by the District Council, aims to provide a platform for local artists to demonstrate their crafts and we are really looking forward to promoting the Cambridgeshire Open Studios on our monthly Flower, Food and Craft Market. Local artists, traders and producers are the people who bring colour, life and passion to our markets and we are sure the Open Studios will add to the fantastic variety of arts and crafts on display this Sunday.

"With the Cambridgeshire Festival of Cycling also stopping by, the Market Place in Ely is going to be a hive of activity. So pop down and see some of the great things which take place on your doorstep."
