The Lord Protector welcomes new historical fayre

Oliver Cromwell’s House, Ely, opens its doors to a variety of historical traders and craftspeople in its first historical fayre on Sunday 29th January.

The House will come to life as never before with costumed traders selling a variety of unusual wares and gifts inspired by the past including food, pottery, jewellery and clothing.  This is the go to event for re-enactors, historical enthusiasts or simply the curious!

Demonstrations, talks and presentations will also be included as part of the £2 admission price with a variety of tasters and samples.

Councillor Richard Hobbs, Chair of the Commercial Services Committee for East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “I am looking forward to seeing the House being transformed for the day for this historical shopping spree.  The period chocolate demonstrations are going to be a particular highlight for many I feel!”

This is your chance to learn more about traditional crafts and view bespoke items not readily available.  From unusual herbs and spices, gemstones and fossils, period clothing and handmade  metal fabrications, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

A full list of traders attending and details of their wares can be found at www.olivercromwellshouse.co.uk.  Or follow them on Facebook or Twitter.

The fayre runs from  11am until 4pm.
