Residents are being asked for their comments on the proposed tree work planned to take place on Newnham Street, Ely.
The works form part of a strategy of improvements to the public open space at Newnham Street Car Park, which borders the Atrium Club as well as 39 to 41 Newnham Street, Ely.
The council manages the trees in Newnham Street Car Park and the public open space bordering the Atrium Club, Newnham Street, Ely.
The condition of the large cypress trees along the boundary fence with the Atrium Club, has caused problems with large lateral branches cracking and excessive overhang into the Atrium Club’s parking area.
Following consultation in 2002, the council successfully replaced a row of mature cypress trees with a native hazel hedge, along the boundary fence of the public open space next to the Atrium Club. The council would like to continue the success of this 2002 landscape improvement scheme, by removing the remaining large cypress trees.
The council is therefore carrying out a consultation on this proposal and seeks comments by Monday 30th April 2018. Have your say by emailing treesteam@eastcambs.gov.uk.
It is hoped to carry out the cypress tree removals and the replacement planting in late autumn 2018.
