The Littleport Town Team is joining in the UK wide celebration of the National Heritage weekend.

The weekend, which runs from Friday 11 to 13 September, will see the celebration of the town’s heritage.  It is ten years since an array of white shirts were suspended over the Main Street in a creative promotion to celebrate Littleport’s connection with Hope Bros.

Ten years on, the team aim to capture the town’s heritage once again - in a slightly different style.

Littleport Library ran a series of workshops over the summer encouraging budding artists to portray Littleport’s heritage on large poster size boards.  These will be showcased in shop windows over the Heritage Weekend to form a ‘Creative Heritage Art Trail’.

David Ambrose-Smith, Chairman of the Littleport Town Team, said: “The National Heritage weekend has become a great way of celebrating the very best of our great nation. In Littleport, we felt this was something which we could get involved with and portray the many aspects of the town’s strong heritage such as Fenland skating, Burberry’s Clothing Factory and our Harley Davidson connection to name just a few.  By linking up with the Library’s summer initiative we are able to help display our town’s artistic talent. We hope every shop in Littleport will display a poster board and we look forward to seeing lots of people come down and enjoy the images.”
