Have you ever thought about running for office? Do you think you could help improve your local community and parish? Do you want to get involved in how the district is run?
If so nominations are now open for anyone who wants to stand for election on Thursday 7 May to become a District and/or a Parish Councillor in East Cambridgeshire.
All 39 seats for the District Council and 323 seats for Parish Councils across East Cambridgeshire are up for election and the deadline for nominations to be submitted is 4pm on Thursday 9 April. This is the same closing date as the nominations for the Parliamentary elections which opens on Wednesday 1 April.
John Hill, Chief Executive and Returning Officer at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “Becoming a District Councillor can be a demanding but very rewarding role. You have the opportunity to represent your community and parish to influence some of the critical decisions which need to be made on East Cambridgeshire’s future.
“The Election team will be available to receive and validate nomination papers between 10am and 4pm at the Council offices until the closing date on Thursday 9 April. It would be advisable for anyone submitting papers to ring first on 01353 665555 to arrange a convenient time to avoid delays in receiving and validating papers.”
Nomination papers and associated documentation are currently available from the Council Offices or can be downloaded from www.eastcambs.gov.uk. A guidance note outlining the nomination paper is also available on-line.
