East Cambridgeshire District Council’s Housing and Community Advice Service has launched a new district-wide roaming community hub.
The Housing and Community Advice Service Bus will be travelling to areas across the district to provide support and advice on topics ranging from debt and benefits to homelessness and COVID-19 recovery.
Much like public transport, the bus will have a timetable and will be making regular visits to areas all across East Cambridgeshire providing advice and support to residents.
Confirmed locations for the bus include Littleport, Wicken, Mepal, Haddenham, Soham and many more. The full list of locations and timetable can be found on the Council’s website.
The Housing and Community Advice Service was launched in April 2020 and is an extension of the Council’s Housing department.
Councillor David Ambrose Smith, Chairman of the Operational Services Committee at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “The launch of the new housing and community advice service bus is great news for the residents of East Cambridgeshire.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has been incredibly tough for everyone and we hope that by launching this bus, residents from all areas of the district will be able to access advice and support closer to home.
“The bus will be visiting a range of locations and details of this can be found on the Council’s website. I would encourage anyone in need of help to make use of this fantastic service and pop down to the bus when it’s in locality.”
Residents will also be able to collect rapid COVID-19 home testing kits for future use.
If you would like to enquire about the bus stopping at a location not currently on the timetable, please contact the Housing and Community Advice Service by emailing communityadviceservice@Eastcambs.gov.uk or calling 01353 665555.
More information about the Housing and Community Advice Service bus including the timetable can be found via the Council’s website.
